MIFIC – Moscow International Furniture Industry Congress took place on November 22-26, 2006 in Moscow, Russia. It went within the frames of a vivid program which included the Plenary session, conferences, seminars, award ceremony "New Material Design" and Business contacts exchange as well.

In the course of the Plenary session, the moderator of which was the president of SM “Confederation of Associations and Unions of timber, pulp and paper, woodworking and furniture industry” Valery Saikovsky, lots of specialists made their presentations, such as: Ms. Paola Govoni, CSIL Milano (Italy) - "Current condition and development prospectives of global furniture Industry Market", Yuri Tvildiani, General Director of Soyuzmebel NKO - "Problems of furniture market infrastructure formation", Professor Thomas Stautmeister, General Director of INNOTECH Holztechnologien GmbH (Germany) - "The condition of furniture Industry in Russia and possibilities for further co-operation between Germany and Russia", Eugeny Shvarts, Ph.D., Dr.Sc. Director of Conservation Policy WWF (Russia) - "Organization of Russian Home market of environmental liable consumption is the leading way of forest industry of Russian economy ecologization". Alexander M. Belyaev, the President of Association of Furniture Manufactures of Ukraine - "Strategy of reciprocal co-operation between Russian and Ukrainian Companies", Professor Frank Prekwinkel, General Director of IMOS AG (Germany) - "Further development on IT and furniture industry", Marina E. Lebedeva, General Director of enterprises and workers of furniture and woodworking industry of the North-West Region - "New forms of cooperation in furniture industry – creation of furniture technoparks" also made their presentations.

Conference "Factory of innovations – materials and component parts for furniture manufacture" (moderator: Professor Thomas Stautmeister, General Director of INNOTECH Holztechnologien GmbH) aroused much interest of the MIFIC participants. Reports on comparative analyses of furniture manufacture at western market and in Russia and modern finishing materials use were presented at the conference. Special guests professor Eugenio Farina and Giorgio Pellizzaro from Italian School of design made a presentation: "Classical innovations – furniture design researches".

There were discussed problems of media maintenance of furniture industry at the round table meeting "Media maintenance of furniture industry", (moderator – Irina Kirichenko, “Derevo.RU” and “Furniture Factory” magazine, editor-in-chief). The presentations were as follows: "Exhibition business as marketing tool within the furniture industry" of Oksana Sitnikova, “Crocus International” CJSC, Director of “Furniture Club” exhibition, "Media support of furniture market as a tool for sales increase" of Margarita Shilova, “Nasha mebel” magazine, editor-in-chief. "Most effective method for participation of a company in a furniture exhibition through the Internet" of Yuri Fedorov, ALL EXPO, Director General, "Role of branch mass-media in promotion of end production and creation of furniture companies image" of Vladislav Ivanov, “Green Island” PR-agency, deputy director on PR-projects, "Participation of mass-media in promortion of ecological qualities of furniture" of Olga Muratova, “Confederation of Associations and unions of timber, pulp and paper, woodworking and furniture industries” NP, PR-manager.

Conference "The best technologies for furniture industry" was moderated by Alexander Chernykh, “Association of Wood Housing” NP, General Director. The speakers were: Thomas Franz, Licensed Engineer, MASSEN machine systems GmbH, who made a presentation: "Automatic optical quality control of furniture surfaces and edges in the manufacturing line", Vladimir Mischenko, General Director of “NPO VISP” - "Advanced Russian technology of drying and treatment of the wood".

Two specialized exhibitions were held within the framework of the Congress: ZOW - international exhibition of components, fittings and semi-finished products for furniture industry and congress leading event TEKHNODREV Moscow 2006 federal project covering a number of Russian regions.
